TheHanna Heilborn was born in Berlin, her father Ernst Heilborn was deputy director of the AEG. After attending a private lyceum and the Sprengelschen women's school in Berlin, she completed a training as a social worker until 1916 and then worked for several years in this profession. Then she took the Abitur and enrolled in 1922 at the Technische Hochschule Charlottenburg. A year later, she moved to the study of chemistry and received his doctorate in 1932 in this field.
At the beginning of the 1930s, Hanna Heilborn was a candidate for training at the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute. In 1933 she emigrated to Paris and from there a year later to Prague, where she continued her education at the Prague Psychoanalytical Association. Her training analyst was probably Frances Deri, control analyst was Otto Fenichel (1897-1946), her later husband. In 1938 she became a member of the Viennese Psychoanalytical Association, she presented her recording on the subject of the problematic of archaic object relations.
Hanna Heilborn emigrated to the USA in 1938 and settled in Los Angeles. In 1940 she married Otto Fenichel, after he had separated from his first wife Cläre Fenichel. Hanna Heilborn-Fenichel became a member and training analyst of the lay analyst open Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Study Group. She specialized in the field of early childhood development. The Center for Child Development, founded in 1975 by the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society was named after Hannah Fenichel (Heilborn)
Hanna Heilborn (Fenichel) emigrated to America from Europe.
In 1940, she merried Dr. Otto Fenichel
Intiall education received in Germany where she defended doctoral dissertation in Chemistry.
Since 1930, she becomes interested in Psychonalysis and continued studies and precticing this science in America
