Born on October 21, 1897 in Berlin (Charlottenburg;
Between October 1903 and September 1913, Hanna Heilborn studied in gymnasium in Charlottenburg;
In 1913 -- 1916, Hanna Heilborn studied in Social - Pedagogical Seminary in Charlottenburg;
Hanna Heilborn studied Chemistry in Technical University of Berlin between October 1922 and October 1923. She earned Ph.D. in Chemistry.
Since 1923, she took a laboratory work with the AEG Company (Allgemeine Elktricitaets - Gesellschaft in Berlin
In the beginning of the 1930s, Hanna Heilborn becomes interested in Psychoanalysis.
She enrolled in the Psychoanalytic Institute of Berlin in the early 1930s and since then devoted herself to professional science of Psychoanalysis.
She left Germany in March 1933 to continue her professional study in Psychoanalysis. She lived a short time in Holland and a longer time she lived and worked in Paris. In Paris she worked at a factory and utilized this for observation and comparison of German and French workers as well as for the analysis of work milieu.
In the mid-1930s Hanna Heilborn relocated to Prague to continue with psychoanalytic studies. She became a member of the Prague Psychoanalytic Group. There she continued friendship and relationship with Otto Fenichel whom she knew from Berlin.
Hanna Heilborn completed psychoanalytic training with the Prague Psychoanalytic Group.
Hanna Heilborn emigrated to America in April 1938, first she lived in New York and then she settled in Los Angeles.
She became accepted to the Psychoanalytic Community of Los Angeles. Her relationship with Otto Fenichel culminates in their marriage in September of 1940.
Hanna Fenichel (Heilborn) became especially active in psychoanalytic discourse after passing of Otto Fenichel in January 1946.
In the course of 1960s, Hanna Fenichel was active in Child Psychoanalysis. Eventually she established a Center for Child Psychoanalysis in 1975. The Center was given her name after Hanna Fenichel (Heilborn) died in 1975.
This Collection comprises a series of correspondences penned by Hanna Fenichel (Heilborn) and received by her.
The content of these narratives reflects her continuing interest and engagement in Psychoanalytic Discourse in America and abroad.
Hanna Fenichel (Heilborn) was rather a practicing psychoanalyst then a theorist. She was also contributed to the publication of the works of Otto Fenichel and to the popularization of applied and theoretical Paychoanalysis.
